About Us
The Walton County Master Gardener program assists UGA Extension in delivering research based horticultural information through volunteer community service and consumer horticulture programming.
Our Program
The Walton County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers (WCMGEVs), work with UGA Extension to share consumer horticulture programming about selection and care of plants for ornamental value, recreation, and home food production. Master Gardeners teach community members how to use plants and gardening to improve their environment, personal health, and quality of life.

We trained our first class of Walton County MGEVs in 2008 and since then have continued to grow our membership, knowledge, and community involvement. The WCMGEVs serve Walton County by volunteering their time to educate, feed, and beautify our community.
Community Engagement
Our volunteer activities include: answering home garden questions through the “Master Gardener Help Desk” and other “Ask A Master Gardener” events, hosting an educational booth at the Monroe Farmers Market, beatifying and feeding Walton County with community gardens, providing a public seed library, offering MG grown vegetables and ornamentals at our plant sales, educating home gardeners with community hosted how-to presentations and submitting local media publications throughout the year.
