Senior Center Vegetable Garden in Monroe
The garden was created to serve the senior citizens of Walton County.
The Senior Center Vegetable Garden is located behind the Senior Center on Madison across from the jail. It was created to serve the senior citizens of Walton County and was funded by East West Bank and Northeast Georgia Area Agency on Aging. Maintenance and assistance is provided by the Walton County Master Gardeners. The garden not only produces fresh and nutritious herbs and vegetables for our senior members to enjoy, but allows them a chance to work in the raised bed gardens and enjoy the fresh air and activity. Extra produce is shared with the Mobile Farmacy, a repurposed school bus dedicated to creating holistic health education experiences in Walton County. Master Gardeners work in the gardens on an as-needed basis. Goals for the coming year include getting more involvement from the senior members and expanding the area to using the greenhouse. If you would like to be involved in helping us at the Senior Center Vegetable Garden, please let us know. We would love to have you join us.
